Roofing Expo is the most important international fair specialized in the construction of roofs in which more than ten thousand professionals from the sector will meet.

The International Roofing Expo 2019, which takes place from 11 to 13 February in Nashville (Tennessee, USA), is the most important annual roofing exhibition that brings together the main companies of the American market and the latest innovations technological The fair brings together more than 10,000 professionals from the roofing sector and involves 467 companies from 62 countries.

Verea participates this week in this fair for the eighth consecutive year, with the aim of expanding the market in other US states with the sale of the tile `S and the` Caribbean S ', designed specifically to meet the demand in North America, Central America and the islands of the Caribbean.

This company exports its roof tiles to 29 countries on four continents and in recent years has increased its exports to American markets. In 2018, approximately 50% of its turnover was made abroad. Specifically, the exploration of the US market by Verea began in 2006 and in 2017 increased its exports thanks to the production of the 'Caribbean S' tile, designed to meet the increase in demand in the US and the Caribbean countries. At present, these tiles are present in North American states such as Florida, Texas, New York or Louisiana.

This new material could reduce air pollution if the roofs of houses are built. Thanks to these granules that absorb polluted air from the atmosphere, air pollution in cities can drop considerably.

The levels of toxicity found in the atmosphere are very high, which is why cleaning the air is essential for our health and the health of the planet.

The company 3M has developed granules to build roofs that are capable of absorbing polluted air from the atmosphere. "Ceiling granules have been part of our business since the 1930s," said 3M sustainability director Gayle Schueller.

Roof granules are used to protect homes from sunlight, and thus the buildings are cooler. In addition, the ceilings are more resistant to fire. About 10 years ago, 3M made granules of cool roofs that reflected sunlight. But these new granules created instead of reflecting sunlight, use it.

Each granule is covered by a material that is activated by ultraviolet rays. This causes them to join different chemical compounds found in contaminated air and transform them into water soluble ions.

The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has evaluated the efficiency with which these granules absorb gases and polluted air, and showed that a roof built with these granules eliminates the same air pollution that would eliminate three trees.

These are the European countries where pollution causes more deaths

Thus, the company Malarkey Roofing has committed to building its roof tiles with these granules that reduce pollution, and for the moment roofs have already been manufactured that have cleaned the same polluted air that would clean about 100,000 trees.

"When we innovate, we start with an understanding of where there is a problem and we identify the problem of smog in cities," explained Schueller.

Although these granules are only a temporary solution, they serve to considerably reduce air pollution in cities, but they do not eliminate this air from the ecosystem.
